The Malaysian Institute of
Taxation (MIT), originally formed under the auspices of
the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA), was established
in 1991. Currently we have over 2500 members comprising
of accountants, licensed tax agents, lawyers, members
from commerce and industry and other tax practitioners
like members from the IRB. Since its inception, MIT has
been actively involved in creating an awareness and promoting
the tax profession to ensure the country's demand for
qualified and trained tax practitioners are met.
As the body responsible for matters concerning taxation
in this country, we are obliged to ensure that our members
are well informed and have their information base constantly
updated by attending Continuing Professional Development
Programmes (CPD). As a national taxation body, MIT also
participates in numerous dialogues and meetings organised
by the relevant authorities namely the Ministry of Finance
particularly Inland Revenue Board and the Tax Analysis
Division and the Royal Customs and Excise Department.
With rapid globalisation, the role of a tax practitioner
in business has undergone numerous changes. It is, therefore
extremely important that we make continuous learning
a part of our professional life to keep abreast with
the current changes.
MIT will continue its fundamental policy of providing
value added services to its members as well as being
the voice on matters relating to Malaysian tax practice. |
